-Based on your research topic or some aspect of nanotechnology education that you would like to teach/communicate with, design a lesson plan by using the Backward Design template.

-Refer to the reading "Understanding by Design" and Module #3 powerpoint to complete the assignment

-write one page summary (12 pt, single space, TNR, 1" margin) that describes how you might present aspects of your technial research to an unfamiliar audience

Knowledge-Centered: about students knowing how to apply knowledge, learning with understanding and knowing when to apply information (organizing information around key concepts)

Learner-Centered: focused on students; based on konwledge, skills, misconceptions, learning styles, beliefs, preconception

Assessment-Centered: provides opportunities for students and faculty to obtain a mutual understanding of the material

Community-Centered: encourages students and faculty to learn from each other; involves students working together in class (e.g. chat rooms, listservs, webservers, Dyknow)
