I am a Ph.D. student in the School of Engineering at Purdue University.  I received my B.S. in Chemistry from the University of South Dakota, and received my M.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University, studying non-intrusive laser diagnostics in gas turbine combustion applications.  My current research interests in Engineering Education revolve around the preparation of graduate students for future professional careers, international and global engineering learning, multidisciplinary graduate education and retention of women and underrepresented minorities in graduated degree programs in engineering fields.  My dissertation work involves studying engineering academic writing as a means of socialization into engineering disciplinary norms.  Outside of research, I am highly involved in service and outreach opportunities through Purdue's Graduate Mentoring Program and Women in Engineering Program.  Participation in IGERT-MNM is beneficial to my career goals since it allows me to be close to science and engineering disciplines, and be involved in the planning and teaching of graduate students through multidisciplinary professional development opportunities, which aligns with my career goals and research interests.
